Dr. Julia Alpert
Dr. Alpert grew up in Kansas and Washington State, and completed her undergraduate education at the University of Utah. She earned her DVM at Oregon State University in 2002. Her first job out of school was in a mixed animal practice in rural Arizona; she now splits her time between a small animal practice in Cottonwood, Arizona and here at Community Animal Hospital. Special interests in veterinary medicine include orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, dentistry, management of arthritis, and reproductive medicine. She also enjoys working with birds, llamas, alpacas and goats. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Alpert enjoys spending time with her family, showing and lure coursing her dogs (currently a Scottish Deerhound), gardening and other outdoor activities.
Dr. Sherilynn Burkman Originally from Colorado and British Columbia, Dr. Burkman earned her DVM degree in 2003 from Colorado State University. She completed the CSU Veterinary Acupuncture Course concurrently, and then practiced in Tokyo, Japan for a short time as part of an exchange program. Dr. Burkman practiced at a busy small animal hospital in Cottonwood, Arizona prior to purchasing Community Animal Hospital from Dr. Peggy Harrer in 2007. Dr. Burkman's special interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, ophthalmology, alternative medicine, and emergency medicine.
