Dr. Julia Alpert - Dr. Alpert grew up in Kansas and Washington State before completing her undergraduate education at the University of Utah. She earned her DVM at Oregon State University in 2002 and first worked at a mixed animal practice in rural Arizona after college. She purchased Community Animal Hospital in 2007.
Her special interests in veterinary medicine include orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, dentistry, management of arthritis, and reproductive medicine. She also enjoys working with birds, llamas, alpacas and goats.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Alpert is an active member of the Pocatello Kennel Club, the show chair for the East Idaho Classic Dog Show, and is involved in a variety of community and church related activities. Her pets include a Scottish Deerhound - Thistle, a champion Basenji - Hattie, a cat - Ahsoka, and a salt water aquarium. During her down time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their two beautiful daughters, showing and lure coursing her dogs, ballet, pilates, gardening, and other outdoor activities.

Dr. Jessie Ingvalson -
Dr. Ingvalson grew up on a dairy farm in southeast Minnesota. She completed both her undergraduate degree and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Minnesota. Within the veterinary field, Dr. Ingvalson has special interests in soft tissue surgery, dermatology and public health. Dr. Ingvalson also enjoys working with goats, sheep, cattle, alpacas and llamas. She even raised a small dairy goat herd in high school.
Outside the veterinary field, she is an avid backpacker, mountain biker and photographer. She is passionate about international medicine and volunteers for Veterinarians Without Borders. Both Dr. Ingvalson and her husband are new to Idaho and very excited to join the Pocatello community.
